Greek Wars
"As far as this can reach."
When asked 'how far Sparta's boundaries stretched?', King Agesilaus' repied brandishing his spear.

Teamwork
The word teamwork illustrates why the Greeks ended up defeating the Persian Empire. At every battle the city-states supported each other if they could.
In the Battle of Salamis, the Corinthians tricked the Persians by leading them further into the straits where they got stuck. The Athenians were then able to ram and attack the Persian ships. Any Greeks who could build ships to help support did so and others sent wood and troops.
In the Battle of Thermopylae, the Spartans sent 300 of their finest men to help support the Athenians. When the Greeks were betrayed by a traitor, they evacuated the 6,000 troops and left the Spartans. The 300 men fought hard all through the third day. They died from a storm of arrows that could block out the sun fired by the Persians.
In the Battle of Marathon, the Athenian army general sent runners to Sparta and Plataea to ask help. The Spartans were in the middle of celebrating a festival and were not allowed to battle until the festival ended. They sent word back that they would send help as soon as they could. The Plataeans sent 1,000 Greeks soldiers to help support the battle.
The Greeks always supported the other city-states by sending troops or supplies when they were needed.
