Legacies of Greece
Theophrastus made a great impact on the modern world.
Theophrastus had the biggest impact on the modern world. In about 320 BC he became the first botanist (someone who studies plants) and categorized more than 500 plants into trees, shrubs and herbs. He is known as the "father of botany." His studies help with pollinating plants for reproduction and seed germination, and he discovered how to use plants in medicines.
His discoveries about how to use plants in medicines are still used to cure diseases in some ways today. Without his discoveries, we would not have medicines today. Diseases would continue without people being able to be treated.
Theophrastus' discoveries also helped people learn how to grow food and created farming and a way of life. People need plants to eat and for oxygen. We need plants to live.

The Legacies of Ancient Greece
The legacies of Ancient Greece are art, science and technology, philosophy and literature, government and Greek warfare and architecture. I believe that science and technology is the most important. They have had the biggest impact on the modern world. Ancient Greeks invented things that the world uses to work. Some of their inventions are still used in the world today and other inventions helped create new things. Greek inventions like the pulley system is used in machines, weapons, tools and equipment today. Other inventions are the alarm clock, pumps and botany. The Greeks left many legacies, but I think that their science and technology is the biggest.

Legacy Reflection
I think science and technology is the best legacy because a Greek inventors created many things that are still used today. They created mechanical toys like birds, puppets, and coin operated machines which we still use today. Water screws were invented by a Greek scientist named Archimedes in the 200’s BC. Ancient Greeks were also the inventors of the automatic doors. In 515 BC, an ancient Greek invented a crane and pulley system that was built to move and carry heavy loads. They also invented botany and organized plants to be used for farming growing food and in medicines.
Today, in this modern world, we still used these inventions. We use automatic doors for many reasons including to help handicapped people get through doors without opening them with the special operator sensors which was actually invented in the 1950’s. The water screw that the Greeks invented is useful today to transfer water from a low-lying body of water into irrigation ditches or canals to help with farming or to bring water to people who are in need of water. The pulley system invented by the Ancient Greeks still has many uses in our machines, weapons and tools. The use of plant and herbs helps cure diseases in the modern world. Today, we still use all of the inventions of the Greek inventors from the past.
