Crossing The River Rubicon

This picture shows Caesar making a bold choice to cross the River Rubicon with his army. By doing so, he committed treason and started a civil war. In 49 BC, he decided to cross the River Rubicon with his army knowing it would start a civil war, rather than to cross on his own and be executed on site. Caesar's popularity with the people created a problem for the senate and Pompey because it threatened their power. The outcome of his actions plunged Rome into a great civil war.
THE IDEAS OF MARCH

This picture shows what happened during the Ides of March when Julius Caesar was killed by Brutus and Senate.
In 44 BC Julius Caesar was assassinated by his friend Marcus Brutus and members of senate. The senate feared Caesar's power and that he might overthrow them. Caesar was warned four times not to go but he did anyways. His murder frightened the people of Rome and became a turning point for Rome transforming it from a Republic into an Empire.
The Verdict
I do not believe that Julius Caesar was guilty nor deserved to be assassinated. He was doing great things for the Roman Republic.
Caesar helped Rome manage their debt and unemployment. He commissioned the construction of new buildings to not only create jobs for the unemployed, but to also enhance the city's appearance. He reinstated the law that limited hoarding of sesterces to 60,000 sesterces by any one person.
Caesar conquered many lands, including Europe and Spain, and he expanded the Roman Republic. Caesar had a great talent for military command and was a great ruler. He inspired his troops and got them to take risks.
The people of Rome loved him. This scared the Senate who were afraid they would lose power. Caesar gave money to the poor and held games festivals for them. Caesar loved Rome and even took care of the people after his death. In his will, Caesar left his riches to the people of Rome and made his villa, gardens and art gallery public places. Caesar left 300,000 sesterces to each citizen.
